Case Study

Launched in 2017 with the acquisition of TheraNest, a mental health electronic health records (EHR) software platform, Ensora Health (formerly Therapy Brands) provides integrated software solutions for mental health, substance use recovery, and rehabilitation practices.

Over its first four years, Ensora executed a disciplined buy-and-build strategy, completing 16 acquisitions and unifying a fragmented market of niche software providers in practice management, clinical EHR, revenue cycle management, client engagement, and telehealth. This approach created deep vertical functionality across therapy, mental health, applied behavior analysis, and rehabilitation—positioning Ensora as one of the most comprehensive platforms in behavioral health technology.

In 2021, Ensora was acquired by KKR in a $1+ billion transaction, representing a landmark moment for the broader behavioral health technology market and a successful realization of GSV’s investment.

Today, Ensora Health is focused on enabling intelligent, whole person care by breaking down the silos between mental, physical and social health. Supporting over 28,000 practices and 200,000 individual providers across its software and service suite, Ensora is a market leader in healthcare IT.
