About
Brian Seagraves joined Greater Sum Ventures in 2021 as a Vice President of Product & Technology, leading product strategy and technology innovation across the firm’s tech-focused platforms. A former founder and seasoned operator, Brian brings more than 22 years of experience building, scaling, and commercializing software products.
Brian founded and successfully exited his company to Ministry Brands in 2014, becoming one of the platform’s earliest acquisitions. Following the transaction, he held a series of senior product and technology leadership roles at Ministry Brands, ultimately serving as its Chief Product Officer, where he helped integrate acquisitions, scale product portfolios, and bring new solutions to market.
At GSV, Brian partners closely with portfolio companies to align product, technology, operations, and go-to-market strategy—helping teams move from vision to execution quickly and effectively. His operating superpower lies in understanding how complex systems fit together and translating that insight into straight-line impact.
As a former founder, Brian believes alignment is everything—between teams and customers, and between investors and entrepreneurs—driving durable value and long-term success.
Q&A
Why GSV?
I get to work with people I trust, who’ve won too consistently for it to be by chance. And we get to creatively solve problems to help companies grow faster.
What’s a moment in your career or life that shaped how you lead or work today?
A leader took me aside early in my career and told me I was hard to work with, and I needed to fix it. This shaped me in a couple of ways. First, it helped me realize that being right often doesn’t matter if you’re needlessly frictional. Second, it helped me appreciate the importance of giving clear and direct feedback to people for them to grow.
What advice would you give your younger self?
You need other people much more than you realize. No one has built or become something worth being all by themselves.
