About
Louis Roberts is an SVP on the sourcing team at GSV, where he focuses on identifying and partnering with founder-led, tech-enabled services and software companies across the lower-middle market. Since joining the firm in 2018, Louis has worked with more than 50 entrepreneurs, helping founders scale their businesses through strategic investment, operational rigor, and long-term alignment.
Louis has also worked alongside GSV CEO and Founder Ross Croley for over 25 years across three organizations, giving him a rare perspective on company-building from startup to scale. Before joining GSV, he served as Director of Giving Sales at Ministry Brands, where he helped drive growth through disciplined sales execution and product adoption.
An entrepreneur at heart, Louis bought and ran a pizza restaurant while in college—an experience that taught him the value of responsibility, perseverance, and hands-on leadership. Today, he channels that same entrepreneurial empathy into his work with founders, respecting the grind it takes to build something lasting. He is primarily interested in companies across travel and hospitality, transportation/logistics, and sports and entertainment—particuallry those where AI can streamline workflows, reduce costs, automate notetaking, and drive better patient and business outcomes.
Q&A
Why GSV?
I've always admired and appreciated founders who take big risks and make real sacrifices to build something meaningful. GSV allows me to support those entrepreneurs, tap into my own entrepreneurial spirit, and invest alongside the businesses we partner with. The culture is a big part of what makes GSV special—we're a team of bootstrapped entrepreneurs and operators who share a common vision and genuinely enjoy building together and helping founders flourish along their entrepreneurial journey.
What do you wish more founders knew before taking on capital?
Not all deals are created equal. Taking on investment isn’t just about capital—it’s about finding the right partner. Founders should look for investors who bring strategic value, operational insight, and genuine alignment with their mission. The right partner can help unlock growth; the wrong one can create friction that slows it down. If you find the right partner, the value will come.
