About
Sean Nicholson is a Senior Associate at GSV and focuses on evaluating investment opportunities across the firm’s vertical software and technology platforms. He first joined GSV as an intern early in his career before pursuing his master’s degree and gaining experience in the technology investment banking coverage groups at Truist and Janney Montgomery Scott—an experience that ultimately brought him full circle back to GSV in a role that combines his analytical rigor with his passion for entrepreneurship.
At GSV, Sean is energized by the firm’s founder-led culture and entrepreneurial mindset. He values working alongside seasoned operators and former founders who bring genuine empathy and executional insight to each partnership—an advantage that, in his view, sets GSV apart within the investment landscape.
Sean’s favorite aspect of investing is the constant learning it demands—understanding new business models, exploring evolving sectors, and collaborating with exceptional people. His curiosity and relational approach make him a trusted partner to founders navigating growth, strategy, and scale.
Q&A
Why GSV?
There are a number of reasons that I chose to come to GSV, but the one that sticks out is that there is real sense of ownership and entrepreneurial spirit across the firm. I get to work alongside former founders who have sat in the same seat as the founders of businesses we are seeking out today—they add perspective and genuine value to the conversation in a way that is rare in the investment industry.
